D5 Grand Prix Rules

  1. Best three of five results
  2. To win the series you must sail an event from each province. (you do not necessarily have to count it if you have enough events)  This rule was added at the 2000 D5 AGM.
  3. Ten points for first, one point for tenth and lower.  You deserve a point for making the journey.  
  4. Ties split on best result(s) in the three counting results - If still tied then its who beat who most often in the races both sailed.
  5. You must be an ILCA member by the time of the last race to count in the results.  The Laser class only exists as it is today because of its members, so no membership, no prize.  Those greyed out of results are not ILCA members.
  6.  If the event is a special event as per Midwest Champs etc. we remove foreigners (e.g. D6 members) from the ranking.( 2000 Rule)

Peter Wilson scored most points in three counting races but the rules state that you cannot win unless you sail  (not necessarily counting) a regatta in both provinces.  Peter moves therefore to second place.    While an impressive number of 56 sailors took part, only 31 were members according to the information supplied by NA Region office.  The 25 non-members should get ready to be press ganged.   In 1999 only 30 sailors entered and in 2000 it was up to 39.
